JGLB featuring Tommy Duncan, Ray Blade, Ben Jammin and Johnny G Lyon plays this weekend at the BLUE SHARK! Sept 30-Oct 1 9 PM! Hope to see you!
This weekend, we play one 30 minute show Saturday Sept 24 at Skippers Smokehouse, as part of their 25th anniversary celebration. There will be numerous other excellent bands as well. I personally am looking forward to seeing my good friends Pat Harpe and the Quivering Rhythm Hounds and Ronny Elliott and Steve Connelly, Magic Marco, Freight Train Annie, Damon Fowler (hopefully with Riley B Charles), Mod Squad... I know guys from all those bands. Great people, great bands.
In what is rapidly shaping up as the season of Tommy Duncan, his outstanding blog, Sticks of Fire, has been awarded "Best Local Website" by the Weekly Planet! Congratulations to Tommy, BUT, I have a feeling we're going to be saying "Congratulations to Tommy" a whole lot in the very near future!
Professional photographer Luis Santana came out to shoot the band on Saturday night for tbt*, and got some great photos. Check out the most recent JGLB party time caught on film, on Buffalo Bills Fan Appreciation Night. Ray Blade and Ben Jammin’ were bangin’ and jammin’. Johnny G. Lyon was wailin’. As usual, Tommy Duncan was just standing there, doing as little as possible.
We will be playing at the Blue Shark this weekend (Sept 9-10) and next (Sept 16-17). Please come and join us.
In the early 1980's, Los Angeles was my home. Our band was called "Johnny Lyon and the Hitmakers" (and a few other names).
Thanks to the generosity of all of you, the JGLB were able to add another $700 to the amount going to victims of Hurricane Katrina. The total so far is $1,157.00. We'll be adding further details some time soon, along with a photo of some sort of receipt, just so everyone can be sure...
The JGLB plans to donate all tips received this weekend. We got a great start last night, thanks to the genorosity of our fans and the Blue Shark. So far, we have collected $446.00, and want to reach over $1,000 by the end of tonight. Please come out the The Blue Shark in Ybor City, listen to some great live, local music, and help us help our family, friends, and neighbors on the northern Gulf Coast.
